Dado

Some special features must be taken into account when using decorative

dado papers on stairways!

The areas in question have been marked in red for easier understanding.

Preparatory work: cut the panels and edgings out of the dado paper.

Dado

1) Mark out the lower border outline along the stairs and pre-adhere the cut-out border. Mark out the sections for the dado 2) and for the base of the upper edging 3) according to the stair dimensions. The panels must be no wider than the steps.

4) Paper the area marked in red using the matching non-woven pattern (item no. 3108-11 GO).

5) The panels prepared previously must be no wider than the steps. If they are, then cut through the centre of each panel to make two sections. For each step now use the still visible mark 2) to fit both panel halves onto the non-woven strip 4), so that the width of the panel is identical to the step.

The vertically positioned panel halves are generally adhered with some overlap. Make a double seam cut (see Page 28) along the panel edges. Gently peel the panel halves back by ? at the bottom - and then at the top - and remove the cut overlaps lying under the panel. Then reposition the panel halves so that they again overlap the pasted edge.

Use the razor knife and straight edge to cut the double seam on the panel overlap.

Then neatly remove the excess lengths.

Tools: straight edge, razor knife or double ruler

Align the cut edges so they are flush and go over

the seam with a sponge roller.

After an appropriate drying period – there should be no dark areas on the non-woven wall coverings where paste is still damp – the dado can be finished off using a variety of paint options.
